lunar eclipse over tahoe
headed out early in the morn to shoot what was supposed to be the last total eclipse of the moon until 2014. from a thread on tetongravity.com i knew that it would be at 13 degrees above west and that i would need to be back about 1 mile for every thousand feet of mountain in front of me. the idea is to get the best part of the eclipse when it is closest to the horizon. i chose camp richardson because i could park real close and if i was wrong about the angle i could walk out the pier far enough to fix it. i think it worked out. there is almost a three thousand foot elevation change between camp rich and jakes, and camp rich is about three miles back.
